The Leica DMi8 is a premium inverted materials microscope platform designed for advanced industrial inspection, metallography, failure analysis, quality control and research applications. Engineered for maximum efficiency and workflow flexibility, the DMi8 allows operators to inspect large, heavy and complex samples quickly without the need for extensive sample preparation.

Unlike conventional upright microscopes, the inverted design enables samples to be placed directly onto the stage, significantly reducing preparation time and improving throughput. Large and heavy components up to 30 kg can be inspected with ease, making the DMi8 ideal for demanding industrial environments and production facilities.

The Leica DMi8 platform is available in multiple configurations including the manual DMi8 M, coded DMi8 C and fully automated DMi8 A systems, allowing users to select the ideal solution for their application and budget requirements. The modular architecture also enables future expansion as inspection requirements evolve.

Advanced contrast methods including Brightfield, Darkfield, Differential Interference Contrast (DIC), Polarization, Fluorescence, High Definition Darkfield (HDF) and Leica’s unique UC 3D illumination provide exceptional surface detail and structure visualization across a wide range of materials and components.

The DMi8 platform incorporates intelligent automation, coded components and touchscreen operation to simplify workflows, improve repeatability and minimise operator error. Automated illumination and contrast management ensure optimal settings are applied automatically during magnification or contrast changes.

For large-area inspection, Leica’s exclusive macro objective technology provides up to four times the field of view compared to conventional overview objectives, enabling rapid screening and navigation of large samples.

Integrated compatibility with Leica Application Suite (LAS) software enables advanced image analysis, grain analysis, phase analysis, documentation and reporting functions for high-efficiency industrial microscopy workflows.
